Every padel court finder question ends the same way: which app has my local club on it, and is there a guide that has already done the legwork? This page answers both. Padel (a doubles racket sport played on an enclosed glass-walled court) is Britain's fastest-growing racket sport, and new venues open every month - so we keep one directory of every city guide we publish, alongside the search tools that cover the clubs we have not written up yet.

How do I find a padel court near me?

Three routes cover almost every court in the country. First, the booking platforms: most UK clubs run their court calendars on Playtomic (the court-booking app most UK padel clubs use), with a meaningful minority on MATCHi (a Swedish-founded booking platform used by several UK operators). Searching your postcode in both apps surfaces nearly every bookable court near you.

Second, the governing body: the LTA (the Lawn Tennis Association, which has governed padel in Britain since 2019) runs an official court finder listing registered venues, including club-only sites the booking apps miss.

Third, the curated route: our city guides below. Each one lists the venues in that city with court counts, surfaces, pricing notes and how to book - the context a raw map pin cannot give you.

Which booking app do UK padel clubs use?

Playtomic is the default answer. It has become the standard booking layer for independent UK padel clubs, and its matchmaking feature (open matches ranked by level) doubles as a way to find people to play with, not just a court. MATCHi is the one to check second, particularly at multi-sport racket clubs. A small number of operators - typically leisure-centre chains and private members' clubs - only take bookings through their own websites, which is exactly the gap the LTA finder and our city guides fill.

Practical tip: install both apps and search both before concluding your area has no courts. Coverage is split by operator, not by geography, so one app alone can make a well-served city look empty.

How much does it cost to book a padel court?

Most UK clubs price by the court rather than the player: you book the whole court for 60 or 90 minutes and split the fee between four. Peak weekday evenings cost the most, daytime and late slots the least, and indoor or canopy-covered courts usually carry a premium over open-air ones. Some clubs also sell memberships that discount court time or unlock peak-hour booking windows.

Whether a membership beats paying per game depends almost entirely on how often you play - we run the numbers in our membership vs pay-per-play guide.

What if my city is not listed?

Start with a postcode search in Playtomic and MATCHi, then cross-check the LTA court finder for venues that only take direct bookings. Our UK-wide overview of where to play padel tracks the national picture, including how many venues and courts the country has and where growth is concentrated.

We add new city guides as scenes mature, prioritising cities where readers are searching. If your city is missing today, the booking apps will still get you on a court this week.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free padel court finder for the UK?
Yes. Playtomic and MATCHi are free to download and search, and the LTA's official court finder is free on its website. Our city guides are free too, and add the context the apps leave out: which venue suits beginners, what courts cost, and how booking works at each club.
Do I need to be a member to book a padel court?
Usually not. Pay-per-play is the standard model at most UK padel clubs, so you can book a one-off court slot as a visitor. Memberships mostly buy discounted court time, longer booking windows or priority at peak hours rather than basic access.
How far ahead should I book a court?
It varies by city and slot. Peak weekday evenings at busy urban clubs can fill several days ahead, while daytime and weekend-afternoon slots are often available on the day. Booking apps show live availability, so checking a few venues takes seconds.
Are there outdoor padel courts in the UK?
Yes. UK venues are a mix of indoor halls, canopy-covered outdoor courts and fully open-air courts. Covered courts are the safer booking in winter; open-air courts are usually cheaper and dominate at tennis clubs that have added padel.
How do I find beginner-friendly padel sessions?
Look for open sessions, social americano tournaments and group coaching on your local club's booking page. Most clubs run introductory sessions precisely because so many players are new to the sport, and Playtomic's open matches are graded by level.
